Waterford FC are excited to announce the signing of Meghan Carr to our senior women’s side ahead of our inaugural SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division campaign.
Carr joins the Blues having come from Cork City FC, where she had success with their underage sides, along with time at Treaty United FC.
The 22-year-old came up through the ranks of her hometown club Cork City FC where she was part of their WU17s National League win in 2020, as the Rebels defeated Shamrock Rovers FC 2-0 in the showpiece final.
The full-back made the switch to Treaty United soon after, as she was given her first taste of senior women’s football with the Limerick side.Carr now joins the Blues to bolster our defensive options, alongside Danielle Griffin & Jess Lawler who were announced recently.
Speaking on Meghan’s move to the Blues, Head Coach Gary Hunt commented:
“I’m delighted to welcome Meghan into the group. She is hugely motivated to play at this level and I’m sure she will give everything in return. Meghan has played her part with our own University here over the last few years so she will be accustomed to many of the players we will face this season and will give us pace & determination in abundance.”
Welcome to Waterford, Meghan!
