Waterford Women’s FC are excited to announce that Danielle Griffin has joined our Waterford Women’s FC senior side for the 2025 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
Griffin makes the step-up to Gary Hunt’s side for the 2025 season, having come up through our academy in recent years. The defender started her footballing journey locally in Waterford with Ferrybank AFC & Bohemians FC Waterford, before joining the Wexford FC Women’s academy in 2020 where she spent time with their WU17s & WU19s.After impressing with the Ferrycarrig side, Danielle made the move to Waterford FC in 2023, where she has spent the last two years with our WU19s.
The tenacious defender has been rewarded with her impressive development with a spot in Gary Hunt’s side for 2025, becoming our second signing after Maeve Williams’ move to the Blues.
Speaking to Waterfordfc.ie, Head Coach Gary Hunt was delighted to reward Danielle with this opportunity for 2025, commenting:
“Danielle joins us following spending time in our academy, but she was someone who I wanted to be part of this group based on the standards she sets herself on & off the pitch. This will be infectious for all the younger girls who get an opportunity to step up this season, and I know Danielle will not let the team down no matter what is asked of her.
Another local player who has a great connection with local football here in Waterford and it will be great to see her realise her dream of playing for her home club on a national level.”
