Women’s Community Visit to Presentation Primary School

On Monday afternoon, Waterford FC in the Community paid a visit to Presentation Primary School in Waterford city, where our Women’s Head Coach Gary Hunt along with players Maeve Williams, Jess Lawler & Mia Lenihan gave a training session to the pupils.

Maeve, Jess & Mia mingled with the students of the Presentation Primary School, with Gary Hunt running the session as the pupils continued their hard-work on the training ground!

This visit was our first women’s community visit, after the news that Waterford FC will become the 12th team of the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division for 2025, with all students delighted to be involved in this special occasion.

Head of Community Development at Waterford FC Colin Power spoke to the group afterwards, inviting all students to our historic first-ever home league game on Saturday 15th March against Shelbourne FC.Speaking on the visit, Colin Power was delighted to have our ladies involved in our community work, commenting:

“A little bit of history was made on Monday when our first-ever school visit was made by members of our newly formed Waterford FC Women’s first-team. I want to thank Gary, Maeve, Mia & Jess for taking the time to spend in the Presentation Primary school and taking a very enjoyable coaching session. I would also like to thank everyone in the Presentation for the very warm welcome and to wish the team all the best in their upcoming tournament in SETU.”

Head principal of Presentation Primary School Mrs. O’Mara spoke of the excitement the school had with the players visit, mentioning:

“It was a great honour to have the Waterford FC ladies in the school, the girls really enjoyed their time with the players and manager and we look forward to having the club back again and building good community relationships with the club. Thank you to all those involved with Waterford FC for coming to our school.We would like to wish everyone at Waterford FC the very best of luck for their historic season ahead, and hopefully some day some of our students will line out in Blue in-front of the RSC themselves!”
