Waterford FC are delighted to announce that academy graduate Aoibh Thomas has made the move up to our Women’s Senior side for the 2025 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
The midfielder makes the jump to our first-team, having spent the last two seasons playing in the heart of our WU19 side.
The New Ross native joined the Blues in 2023 from Wexford FC’s WU17s, as she now joins Gary Hunt’s side for 2025. A strong, technical midfielder, Thomas adds to Hunt’s options in the Blues midfield for the year ahead.
Commenting on Thomas’ step up to the first-team, Head Coach Gary Hunt is pleased to welcome the midfielder, commenting:
“I’m delighted to have Aoibh on board after graduating from our academy last season. She has shown a lot of promise so far, but we also need to understand that these young players will need time to grow to meet the demands of first-team football.
In time, I could see Aoibh really being an important part of what we want to do here, especially in possession of the ball. She likes to get on the ball and keep the game flowing. We have plenty to do to get there but it’s important to look to the future as well as working hard to compete in the now.”
Great to have you on board, Aoibh!
