Waterford FC are excited to announce that Sophie Slattery has become our latest signing of our senior women’s side for our inaugural season in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
Slattery makes the move to our first-team, having been an integral part of our academy for the last four seasons, first joining the club as a member of our maiden WU17 side in 2021 from her local club Ferrybank AFC.
After impressing with our academy sides, Sophie joins Gary Hunt’s side for 2025 where she will give further options across the Blues’ backline, along with the versatility of playing in midfield.
A very technical player, Slattery becomes the eighth member of our senior women’s side for 2025.
Head Coach Gary Hunt is looking forward to working with Sophie for 2025, as he mentioned:
“Sophie has been part of the journey with the club now for many years and her development has matched her dedication to improving as a player. I’m excited to see her now step up to our senior team and showcase her talents to the league.
As we have seen with the league over the years, young players when afforded opportunities can really be a massive benefit for both the player and club but we also want to be mindful that Sophie is still learning the game and together I’m sure we will get to the next level.”
Great to have you on board, Sophie!
