Croke Makes Step Up To First-Team

Waterford FC are excited to announce our latest women’s first-team player in Zoey Croke, who makes the step-up to our senior side for 2025.

Croke joined the Blues as part of our first-ever WU17 side in 2021, as she now makes the jump to join our senior women’s squad for the 2025 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division campaign.

Zoey joined initially from local club Waterford Bohemians FC, before spending a year with Wexford FC, before returning to the club for 2023. The versatile left-footed star can play in attack, whilst also an option in defence for Gary Hunt’s side for 2025.Croke becomes the latest member of our Waterford FC Academy to make the step up to our senior side for the coming year.

Speaking on Croke’s signing for the Blues, Head Coach Gary Hunt was delighted to reward Zoey for her efforts, commenting:

“It’s great to see local players hungry to succeed and play at the highest level & Zoey has shown that over the course of pre season and I’m delighted to give her the opportunity to play on the first Women’s team for the club.

Zoey started out with our 17s and spent all her recent years playing academy football to now become a first team player, something all our young players should aspire to. Zoey also knows the hard work does not stop now though as it is as important as ever to continue improving and getting closer to the speed of an ever improving standard at senior level across the country.”

Great to have you on board, Zoey!
