Waterford FC are delighted to announce that Olivia Shannon has made the step-up to be part of our senior women’s side for the 2025 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division season.
Shannon joins Gary Hunt’s squad for 2025, having had an impressive first-season with the club with our WU17s side, as they finished second in the country in WU17’s Academy League of Ireland table.
The Wicklow-native started her footballing career with her local club Aughrim Rangers FC, before making the move to Wexford FC where he spent a season with their WU17s, as she got her first taste of national football.
The midfielder, with an eye for goal, made an immediate impact with the Blues last season as her work-rate in the heart of the Blues’ midfield drove her side to a second-place finish in the league last season.
Head Coach Gary Hunt is delighted to have Olivia with his side for 2025, commenting:
“One of the great things about stepping into the club with a new team is seeing the young players showcase their talents and Olivia has done that since day 1. She has shown she is ready to make the step up to our first team and I’m excited to see her do that.
We want our young players to know that when they are ready there will be opportunities and Olivia is proof of this. She has a great head on her shoulders and will no doubt take this opportunity with both hands. Again being a young player, it is also important we keep her development on track also.”
Great to have you here, Olivia!
